The 4th Lola Kenya Screen audiovisual media initiative for children and youth in eastern Africa (August 10-15, 2009), has on the Day of the African Child—June 16, 2009—announced the line up of the films to be showcased.

Lola Kenya Screen received 315 films in 33 languages from 50 nations. To give each selected film better visibility at the festival, the screening will be done in nine categories.

Additionally, Lola Kenya Screen has in 2009 introduced a competition category called 14 Plus to cater for the many good films that usually do not compete as only films for 6-13-year-olds are the ones that have usually competed for the Lola Kenya Screen Golden Mboni Award for the best children’s film.

For the competition categories, Lola Kenya Screen showcases only the best possible recent—up to 32 months—international films for children and youth.
